1
Clothing
Ski gear (warm, breathable underwear, headband or woolly hat, goggles and sunglasses, gloves, ski socks and ski clothes) / moonboots (or similar) to walk in the resort’s snowy streets…
2
Car
Make sure you have snow chains in the car (to be attached to tyres in snow chaining area at the side of the road) or snow tyres / refuel before you drive up to Val Thorens because a full petrol tank is less likely to freeze.
3
Food
It is still cheaper in the valley but retailers such as Carrefour now offer a wide range of competitively priced products / many grocery stores offer local produce / if you buy cheese or cooked meats some shops will lend you a raclette grill, fondue machine, pierrade hot stone … free of charge.
Non-skiing activities
Val Thorens has also got plenty going on for non-skiers , sporting events, celebrations, family activities and many restaurants. Make sure you book in advance so that you don’t miss out.
Our 3 favourite non-skiing activities:
- Adrenaline - the Cosmojet toboggan run and/or the Bee Flying zip line
- Cocooning – the massages available in the resort’s many wellness centres
- Mouth-watering - hot chocolate (around the fire) at the end of the day in one of the resort’s many restaurants
